    What is granola?

Perhaps you've never tried making homemade granola before! Let me be the one to break it to you - homemade granola is oh so much better than what you can find at the store. Not only is it sweet and crunchy, but it's flavor-packed with the ingredients of your choice and preference!

Granola is also incredibly versatile - there are so many different ingredients that you can combine and substitute in order to make it your own! Mix up the dried fruit with another choice of your preference, alternate nuts, different seeds, or different oils!

How to eat and enjoy homemade granola

There are a number of different ways to eat and enjoy homemade granola! Here are a few ideas to get you started:

    • Adding on top of a bowl of Yogurt as pictured above, or to a bowl of milk
    • A to-go snack - pack a bag of granola to take on the road
    • Layered into a Parfait of overnight oats
    • Add on the top of a smoothie bowl
    • Sprinkled over ice cream

    How to make homemade granola

Five simple steps and you have yourself a batch of granola! Here how it's made:

    • Preheat Oven to 350° F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper - then set aside.
    • Add oats, pumpkin seeds, sliced almonds, coconut flakes and sunflower seeds into a bowl and mix well.
    • Add orange zest, avodaco oil, orange blossom water, honey and salt on top of the dry ingredients and mix using a spatula until everything is well coated.
    • Spread mixture evenly onto a large baking sheet and place in the preheated oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes, mixing every 10 minutes to ensure that the granola is evenly browning.
    • Allow granola to cool completely before storing in an airtight container and enjoying!

Can I use butter instead of oil to make seeded apricot and coconut granola?

You can certainly use another fat to substitute the avocado oil I've chosen for this recipe. Whether you use butter to make your granola, coconut oil, olive oil - it's entirely up to you! That's the beauty of granola, there are so many ways to adjust the recipe to truly make it your own.

I tend to use fats with a higher smoke point to ensure that the granola does not burn, but as long as you are consistently stirring the granola in the oven and keeping an eye and nose on its status, it will turn out wonderfully!

How long doese homeade granola last

Eventually, your precious granola will go bad. BUT the good news is that it is properly stored it will likely be long gone before the expiration date.

Your Seeded Apricot & Coconut Granola will last for about a month as long as it is stored in an airtight container at room temperature. You'll want to make sure that the granola has completely cooled before storing!
