As a trained culinary chef, one of my favorite ways to add a unique twist to recipes is by playing with floral flavors—and rose simple syrup is one of the easiest and most elegant ways to do just that. With its romantic aroma and delicate sweetness, this syrup instantly elevates everything from matcha lattes to cocktails, cakes, and lemonade.

Whether you're adding a dash to a rose matcha latte, sweetening sparkling water, or drizzling it over a vanilla cake, this syrup is a versatile kitchen staple that’s surprisingly easy to make. All you need is sugar, water, and rose flavor, and you’re just 10 minutes away from something beautiful and delicious.

This recipe uses either dried edible rose petals for a more natural infusion or rose water for a quicker floral flavor—both work beautifully, and the syrup keeps well in the fridge for days of inspired creations.

    • Quick & Easy – Ready in just 10 minutes with just a few ingredients.

    • Naturally Pink (Optional) – Add a drop of beet juice or food coloring for a gorgeous blush tone.
    • So Versatile – Use it in lattes, lemonades, cocktails, frostings, or over fruit and desserts!

    Ways to Use Rose Syrup

Once you’ve made your rose simple syrup, here are some fun and delicious ways to use it!

    • Rose Matcha Latte – Add 1–2 tablespoons to your favorite iced or hot matcha drink.
    • Rose Old Fashioned – Use in your next old fashioned for a floral twist!
    • Cocktails – Mix into gin spritzers, sparkling rosé, or vodka sodas.
    • Baking & Desserts – Drizzle over vanilla cake, panna cotta, yogurt, or fresh berries.

    Tips for Success

Before you start mixing your rose syrup into all the things, here are a few quick tips to help you get the best flavor, color, and shelf life out of your homemade floral sweetener.

    • Use culinary-grade dried rose petals - this will help to both create an infusion of rose flavor and naturally turn the syrup into a pink rosy hue.
    • Taste as you go! Add more or less rose flavor depending on your preference.
    • Keep the simple syrup sealed and refrigerated to preserve freshness.
