Picture this: vibrant, ripe strawberries, meticulously picked from your garden or lovingly selected at the local farmers' market, wrapped in the silky embrace of frothy milk and bold bravado of espresso. Sounds heavenly, doesn't it? Now, imagine savoring this blissful concoction on a warm, sun-kissed morning, as the world awakens to another glorious day. Good morning, INDEED!

This strawberry coffee recipe offers a more sophisticated twist on the childhood classic, strawberry milk. If you’re yearning for those nostalgic days when a glass of sweet, pink goodness transported you to a world of pure bliss, get ready to recreate that experience, but with a buzzy, adult twist.

My copycat Starbucks strawberry latte offers a grown-up version, combining the familiar comfort of rich, creamy berry-flavored milk with the richness and complexity of your favorite coffee shop drink. YUMMMM.

⭐ Why You’ll Love This Recipe

If you’re itching to try a Sakura strawberry latte Starbucks-style, tuck your wallet away for another day. This delightfully seasonal beverage can easily be made at home!

Aside from tasting like a caffeinated romp through strawberry fields, this easy strawberry-flavored latte recipe is also:

    • Made With Only 3 Simple Ingredients. If you have strawberries, milk, and coffee, you’re ready to rumble.
    • Quick & Easy. You only need a few minutes to whip up this uniquely flavored latte, especially if you already have your strawberry syrup ready to go.
    • A Fun Way To Shake Up Your Coffee Routine! There’s no doubt about it — being your own barista is a great way to save $$$. That said, it’s easy to fall into a rut and just make the same thing day in, day out. If you’re looking to expand your menu of coffee offerings at home, this two-toned beauty is a great place to start.

    🍴Ingredients

Strawberry latte recipe ingredients on the counter.

As promised, you only need a handful of ingredients to make the best strawberry flavor latte of summer! Here’s what to grab:

    • Strawberry Milk - While my homemade recipe offers two different versions, I suggest using the version made with homemade strawberry syrup and the kind of milk you enjoy. If you like an added pop of color, feel free to add a touch of food coloring. Feel free to substitute non-dairy milks here - coconut milk, soy milk, oat milk.
    • Espresso - The base of any good latte is a freshly pulled shot or two of espresso from your espresso machine or nespresso. You’re also welcome to swap in strongly brewed coffee or cold brew instead!
    • Ice - I prefer an iced strawberry latte to hot, but feel free to make whichever appeals to you! For an added layer of coffee goodness, use ice cubes made from coffee.
    • Fresh Strawberries - Optional, but oh-so-cheery as a garnish!

See the recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

    ⏲️ Substitutions & Variations

    • Dairy-Free/Vegan - Make your strawberry milk with the plant-based milk of your choice for a vegan-friendly latte delight!
    • Decaf - If you want all the flavor of strawberry coffee without all the caffeine, swap in a few shots of your favorite decaf roast.
    • Hot Strawberry Latte - Feel free to go all warm and cozy, warming and frothing your strawberry milk in a small saucepan over medium heat before adding it to a coffee mug.
    • Frozen Strawberry Coffee Frappé - Blend up your homemade strawberry milk with some espresso ice cubes and a scoop of berry ice cream, then top with freshly whipped cream and a drizzle of coulis.
    • Strawberry Mocha - Add a drizzle of chocolate syrup to sweeten your espresso and give your latte a chocolate-dipped strawberry vibe. Add some coffee ice cubes, strawberry compote and a touch of brown sugar syrup if you want to amp things up!
    • Sweetener Options: Add maple syrup, or a bit of honey to add some extra natural sweetness into your strawberry coffee!

This easy recipe has not been tested with other substitutions or variations. If you replace or add any ingredients, please let us know how it turned out in the comments below!

    📖 Step-by-Step Instructions

This tasty strawberry-flavored latte comes together in just a few simple steps:

Pouring strawberry milk into your serving glass.

Step 1: Pour strawberry milk into a glass over ice.

Adding espresso shot into the strawberry milk.

Step 2: Add espresso, coffee, or cold brew on top.

Adding a fresh strawberry on top of the strawberry latte.

Step 3: Garnish with a fresh strawberry before serving, if desired. Enjoy!

    👩🏻‍🍳 Expert Tips

From one home barista to another, here are my best tips for making the BEST strawberry latte around:

    • Brew strong coffee: Since strawberry milk has its own distinct flavor profile, it's important to have a strong base to pair with it. Consider using a concentrated brew like homemade cold brew, shots of espresso or a strong coffee concentrate.
    • Milk matters: Choose any milk that suits your preference, including dairy milk, almond milk, oat milk, or any other milk alternative. PRO TIP: If you opt for vegan milk, try reaching for a specific "barista blend" for the best mouthfeel.
    • Chill your ingredients: For a refreshing iced latte, make sure your coffee, strawberry mixture, and milk are all chilled before combining them. If you want to quickly cool your espresso, try a Hyperchiller!
    • Ice cube swap: To prevent your iced latte from getting watered down, consider using flavored ice cubes made from coffee or the strawberry mixture. These cubes will keep your drink cold without diluting it.

    💭 Recipe FAQs

Is strawberry milk good in coffee?

Strawberry milk can be a delightful way to incorporate a fruity twist in your usual cup of joe. The combination of sweet n' creamy strawberry milk and rich, robust coffee is something I definitely find appealing. That said, taste is subjective!

If you're curious about trying strawberry milk in your coffee, I encourage you to experiment. Start by adding a small amount of strawberry milk to your coffee and gradually adjust the ratio to achieve your perfect balance. You can also try different types of coffee, brewing methods, and variations of strawberry milk (homemade or store-bought) to further hone in on your favorite cuppa.

Are strawberry lattes good? What do they taste like?

My iced strawberry lattes are a fun, fresh, and invigorating way to enjoy the flavors of summer and open up a world of possibilities for those seeking a fruity twist in their daily caffeine fix. So, if you're looking for a refreshing and utterly delicious drink, don't hesitate to indulge in the delightful experience of a strawberry latte. Your tastebuds will thank you!

As far as what they taste like, imagine the harmonious convergence of sun-kissed strawberries and the bold embrace of espresso, swirling together in a magical dance. The velvety smoothness of the milk, the luscious sweetness of the berries, and the vibrant, roasted notes of the espresso create a symphony of flavors that transports you to a whimsical wonderland where you can feel sunshine sparkle pink and blue.

How should I store leftover strawberry latte?

To store your leftover strawberry latte, simply pop it in the refrigerator in an airtight container or bottle. Remember to give it a gentle stir before serving to mix the flavors. Try to enjoy it within 2-3 days for the best taste, or freeze it into ice cubes for your next fruity latte adventure.

Do I need special equipment to make a Strawberry Latte?

For a creamy and unique flavor, try making a strawberry latte using real strawberries and whole milk of choice. No special equipment or coffee maker is needed; simply blend the strawberries, prepare espresso shots, and use a handheld frother froth the milk until creamy if desired!

This popular coffee-based drink, known as the "pink drink," is sure to impress, and it's an amazing way to enjoy a homemade specialty beverage without needing any special equipment or spending a small commission at a cafe.
